A Unique Year in Industry.
For my industrial placement year, I spent it at Solar Tech out in Gloucestershire, It's a small company specialising in the design and distribution of high-quality solar products. Unlike most companies which have a very specific user to target, solar tech has a huge array of potential customers. Essentially anyone who wanted off-grid power.
Obviously, my interest was peaked by their Freeloader Solar Hiking gear brand but during my time there I got to design for all of their active sectors including some outreach projects with Dream in Africa supplying solar containers and mini-grids.
This gave me a unique insight potentially missed by the traditional placement of working for a larger company in a specific department. Below are some of the designs I made for them
